Montefalco Red Wine is a DOC wine whose production is allowed in the entire municipal area of Montefalco, and in part of the municipalities of Bevagna, Giano dell'Umbria, Gualdo Cattaneo and Castel Ritaldi, in the province of Perugia. The blends from which it is composed are: Sangiovese (from 60 to 70%), Sagrantino (from 10 to 15%), other indigenous grapes up to a maximum of 30% (typically Merlot, or other red grape varieties). Montefalco rosso can only be marketed after aging for at least 18 months. A greater aging gives rise to the Montefalco Rosso Riserva. |
